The Most Important Work

Children are the most important work

Work is so important. It builds character, it teaches people they can do hard things, and it helps kids learn the lesson of choice and accountability — if they are willing to work for it, great things will happen in their lives. But like all other principles, it's important to understand that there are different kinds of work and there needs to be a balance between them. There is work at a job that makes money, work at a volunteer assignment that improves the community, and work at church to uplift those around us. These are all important, but should never supercede the most important work we have to perform — that of raising good, strong and successful children.  I think C.S. Lewis said it best when he wrote, "Children are not a distraction from more important work. They are the most important work." Life requires balance, but we should do everything in our power to make sure the balance is always in favor of raising our kids.
